"Sea Witch" Musical Cast Revealed

Michelle Visage, known for her role on "RuPaul's Drag Race," and Jay McGuiness, a member of the band The Wanted and a "Strictly Come Dancing" champion, are confirmed to join the cast of the new musical "Sea Witch." The show is scheduled for its premiere at London's prestigious Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Visage will portray the character Tante Hansa, while McGuiness will take on the role of Iker. This musical, which draws inspiration from "The Little Mermaid," delves into the origins of a formidable sea villain through the story of Evie, a witch navigating a realm where magical practices are forbidden.

The star-studded cast further includes Natalie Paris, an Olivier Award nominee and an original member of the "Six" cast, who will play the lead role of Evie. Mazz Murray, an alumna of "Mamma Mia!," is cast as Queen Charlotte, adding another seasoned talent to the ensemble. Amy Di Bartolomeo, recently seen as Emily in "The Devil Wears Prada," and Natalie Kassanga, recognized for her leading role in "Moulin Rouge!," complete the main cast as Annemette and Malvina, respectively. Lee's choreography, influenced by his work with renowned artists, aims to be an integral part of the narrative, conveying meaning and intention through every gesture. Michael David Glover, responsible for the book, articulated that "Sea Witch" challenges conventional notions of heroes, villains, and storytelling, promising a daring, emotional, and unapologetic theatrical experience. The production is based on Sarah Henning's novel and is brought to life by Russell & Glover Theatrical & Pictures, in collaboration with the Nederlander Organization, the Shubert Organization, John Gore Organization, and Willette Klausner.
