Dakota State Trojans Set for Final North Star Basketball Tournament

Instructions

Preparations are underway for the concluding North Star Athletic Basketball Tournament, where Dakota State's men and women's basketball teams will make their final appearances. The tournament marks a significant moment as the North Star Athletic Association prepares to dissolve following this season. Both Trojan teams have secured their positions in the tournament, with varying levels of success throughout the regular season.

The men’s team finished the year with an overall record of 11-16 and a conference mark of 4-11, earning them the sixth seed. They are set to travel north to take on Mayville State, the third seed, in a crucial match scheduled for Wednesday evening at 7 PM. Should they emerge victorious, the next challenge awaits in Jamestown on Saturday.

In contrast, the women’s team has had a stellar performance, clinching the top seed with an impressive conference record of 14-1 and an overall record of 22-4. As a result, they have earned a bye straight into the semifinals, which will be held on Saturday at 7 PM. Hosting duties fall to Dakota State, who will welcome the winner of the Bellevue-Valley City State matchup. If the Trojans continue their winning streak, they will host the championship game on Tuesday, March 6th.

This tournament carries added significance as it represents the last hurrah for the North Star Athletic Association. Following this season, Dakota State will transition to join the Frontier Conference, marking a new chapter for the institution. The stage is set for an unforgettable finale, with both teams looking to leave a lasting legacy in the association's final tournament.
